- Want everything deleted? Email support@checkthisforme.com and a real person will erase your account and everything in it, usually within a few days.
What we collect, and why
- Your email address, if you create an account.
- The text you paste in to be checked, and a short excerpt (the first 500 characters) that we keep so we can improve safety and spot new scams.
- Basic usage counts (how many checks you've run today), tied to your account or an anonymized code — never your raw address.
- If you subscribe, our payment partner Stripe handles your card. We never see or store your card number.
- If you arrived from an ad, we note which ad brought you (so we know what’s working). That note stays with us.
The AI part, honestly
Check This For Me uses AI from Anthropic to do its work — reading what you paste and explaining it. What you write is sent to Anthropic to be processed and is not used to train their models. We don’t use your words to train anything either.
Who can see what
Your information is visible to you, and to the small team that runs Lamplight when needed to help you or keep the service safe. Courts can compel any company to hand over records; short of that, nobody else. We use trusted services to run Check This For Me — Supabase (storage), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Anthropic (AI), and Vercel (hosting) — each bound by their own strict agreements.
Practical details
- We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and remember where you came from. No advertising trackers.
- Data is stored in the United States, encrypted in transit and at rest.
- We keep your data while your account exists. Delete your account and it goes with it.
- Check This For Me is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
- If this policy ever changes in a way that matters, we’ll email you in plain words first.
