The short version
- Checking is free with an account (3 a day); Family Shield is $9.99 a month for 30 a day plus conversations. The price on the button is the whole price.
- Cancel any time with one click on your account page. You keep access until the end of what you’ve paid for.
- Everything you write or add stays yours.
- Be kind to the service and it will be kind to you.
The agreement
By using Check This For Me, you’re agreeing to these terms with Lamplight, the small company that makes it. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service — no hard feelings.
Subscriptions, cancelling, and refunds
- Payments are handled by Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel.
- Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you never lose time you’ve paid for, and we never make you call anyone.
- If something isn’t right, email us — we’re generous with refunds.
Your words and photos are yours
Everything you write, answer, or upload belongs to you. You give us permission only to store it, process it, and show it back to you (and to family, where you’ve chosen to share) — that’s the whole license, and it ends when you delete your content or your account.
What Check This For Me is — and isn’t
- Check This For Me uses AI, and AI can be wrong. It gives information and a careful opinion, not professional advice — for medical, legal, or financial decisions, talk to the right professional.
- It is not an emergency service and cannot call 911.
- A “looks safe” verdict is our honest best reading, not a guarantee. When real money is involved, check with the organization directly using a number you already trust.
Fair use
Don’t use Check This For Me to break the law, harm others, or probe or overload the service. We can suspend accounts that do — and if we ever close the service itself, we’ll give you notice and time to take your content with you.
The legal necessities
Check This For Me is provided “as is.” To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is capped at what you’ve paid us in the past twelve months. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where Lamplight is registered. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll email you in plain words first.
